WebQuests

I really enjoyed the WebQuest activity. I've wanted to learn how to create a WebQuest for a long time; I think it would be really valuable and fun for my students.

Day 8 Already!

I completely forgot to enter a blog yesterday. No excuses...I just forgot. I enjoyed trying my hand at the Scholastic Homepage Builder. The instructions were not difficult to understand, and entering information was easy. I find it interesting how homepage set-ups are so varied. Scholastic's site is very different from my district web page, yet essentially includes much of the same information.

Day 6

The copyright information was interesting and made me recognize how little I know about some aspects of copyright laws. After reading the Common Myths article by Brad Templeton, I came away with a question. When the author discusses e-mail and the fact that it is copyrighted, does that mean I am in violation of copyright laws if I forward an e-mail from a parent/guardian (regarding their child) to another teacher on my team if the parent/guardian didn't specifically ask me to forward the e-mail? Hmmm...

Internet Lesson Plans

I really enjoy searching the web and finding the variation of science lessons and activities. It's helpful to me to find out how other teachers presented a lesson, and then to find ways to change some of the steps, so that, I can also utilize the information for my own classes. I find that sometimes I don't have the time that I would like to devote to searching the web.

Day 4

I found that I spent most of my time in the National Archives during my virtual field trips. My husband is in the process of trying to trace his geneology and has run into many dead ends. So...perhaps a trip to the National Archives is in order. I found, in my science classes, that a virtual field trip to Mono Lake in California (an area we study in our curriculum) was very valuable since most students have never heard of the lake and have no idea why the area is important to populations and ecosystems.

Wednesday, August 6

I found the Netiquette information really interesting. I don't think that people always understand the power of the written word, especially when you're not available to interpret areas of possible confusion or concern for the receiver. I think it's really important to thoughtfully consider how and what you say in an e-mail, otherwise it my create problems for you later.

Kathy's Class Blog

This is the first blog that I have ever set up as well as my first on-line class. Other than some technological glitches yesterday and earlier today, I think I'm finally starting to get the hang of this. Now, if I could only figure out how to disable my pop-up blocker...
